Chinese Icebreaker “Xue Long 2” and Polar Exhibition at Siam Paragon
The Chinese polar research vessel Xue Long 2, one of the world’s most advanced icebreakers, made its first visit to Thailand as part of celebrations for HRH Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn’s 70th birthday and 50 years of Thai–Chinese diplomatic relations. Alongside the ship’s port call at Sattahip, a major highlight is the polar science exhibition at Siam Paragon in Bangkok, showcasing research equipment, models, and multimedia displays about polar exploration and climate change. The exhibition allows the Thai public to experience the world of polar research up close, strengthening awareness of global climate issues while promoting scientific collaboration between Thailand and China.
