NCPOR participated in the International Antarctic Coastal Circumnavigation Expedition (ICCE)

A 7-membered NCPOR team participated in the International Antarctic Coastal Circumnavigation Expedition (ICCE). This 60-day expedition, begun on 22 Nov 2024 from Rio Grande, Brazil, involved over 61 scientists from eight countries, including Argentina, Brazil, Chile, China, India, Peru, Russia, and Switzerland. The expedition conducted onboard Russian R/V Akademik Treshnikov is led by the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS) in Porto Alegre, Brazil, and funded by the Swiss Foundation Albedo for the Cryosphere. The flag-off ceremony of the expedition was attended by Shri Hansraj Singh Verma, Consul General of India, Sao Paulo (Figure 1). NCPOR scientists collected samples at various stations to conduct biogeochemical studies, atmospheric and sea ice dynamics, and paleoclimatic studies.
