Malaysia Participates in UAE Antarctic Research Programme Workshop

‌The UAE Antarctic Research Programme Workshop was convened in Abu Dhabi by the UAE National Meteorological Center (NCM) with the aim of seeking input from the international Antarctic research community for the development of a UAE Antarctic Program to ensure that it aligns with the priorities in Antarctic research laid out by the Scientific Committee on Antarctic Research (SCAR) and other international coordination bodies and complementing other existing national Antarctic research programs.

‌ A key highlight of the workshop was a keynote address delivered by Dr. Sheeba Nettukandy Chenoli, an expert in teleconnection from the National Antarctic Research Centre, Universiti Malaya. The workshop was held at the National Centre for Meteorology, Abu Dhabi, from 15 to 17 October 2024.

‌ Malaysia remains committed to supporting the development of emerging Antarctic programmes and welcomes opportunities to share expertise, experiences and best practices in line with our belief in fostering global cooperation for the advancement of polar science.
